Welcome

Welcome to my new blog which is entirely dedicated to art doll making.

Art dolls encompasses dolls made from all types of materials - from cloth to clay to felting, found objects and mixed media - art dolls encompass the sweet, the weird, the fantastic, realistic, faerie, fantasy and even occasionally the grotesque. Needless to say it is not antique porcelain or rag dolls (or teddy bears)  - but hey - in the world of Art Dolls - never say never!

The art doll world is (in my mind) in a bit of a state of flux at the moment. I am hoping to create a space that you will want to come back to for inspiration, news, techniques, freebies, interesting links, interviews with dollmakers and more.

So welcome - leave a comment, tell me what you want to know more about.

Megan

  3. Hi Megan
What a great idea - best wishes with this blog. On 19 February, Hello Dollies is hosting a art doll challenge, using Ann Maullin's latest pattern "Oriental Dance" - some updates are on the Hello Dollies blog www.agbhellodollies.blogspot.com
Perhaps you would like to show photos of some of the dolls after the challenge?
Congratulations - look forward to following this blog.
    regards, Wilma

  6. This looks like a fantastic project - thank you for doing this blog! I haven't made dolls in years, (have some planned for 2010) - but I always like to keep up with what everyone else is doing.

  7. Thanks Tam - I am planning to get back into it in 2010 too - 2009 was a write off for me - hoping to inspire myself as much as anyone else!

  8. Hi Megan...love your blog! Fantastic way for other doll artists and future artists to share their love of dolls and new methods to keep our art alive. I also found 2009 to be a trial...created many projects...won awards..yet I find my sculptures are still at home with me in the end. I plan to lower prices on my dolls to make room for new works that are screaming to be made but no room to create them in my tiny "studio"....so here's to a healthy, peaceful and profitable 2010....hugs and blessings......Debby
